Amazing news for Andalucía Bike Race 2019!

The organisation has requested that it’s held in April and to be Hors Catégorie

Andalucía Bike Race has requested the highest world class, Hors Catégorie, to the International Cycling Union (UCI). A very important step in quality, impact, prize money and UCI points in pre-Olympic year. Xavier Bartrolí, Octagon Esedos President (organising company), has highlighted some aspects of this distinction: “It meansthat it can be the mountain bikings ‘Champions League’ as are La Vuelta España, the Giro d’Italia or Le Tour de France. We’ll be in the top category, and somehow fully justify the effort we have made during these years, and that has been very well welcomed at impact and participation levels, but also at high instances, since they haven’t doubted that we can request our candidacy”, said Bartrolí.

Another important announcement by the president of Octagon Esedos, is that Andalucía Bike Race 2019 would be raced in April 8 to 13 (date to be approved by the UCI), starting with a time trial that would preceed five MTB marathon stages. A perfect date for the riders prepare better and for the weather to be optimum.

The racing days would also change, from Monday to Saturday, instead of Sunday to Friday, to facilitate the riders’ traveling and bring the race closer to the spectators.

With these changes and other news that will be revealed, Andalucía Bike Race consolidates as a worldwide benchmark event, becoming more interesting, open and attractive to all mountain bikers.

Satisfied riders

The study and survey carried out also show the great satisfaction of Andalucía Bike Race presented by Shimano 2018 for those who have attended, scoring it with 8,4 points (on a 1 to 10 scale), and being scored by 70% of the riders with more than an 8. 96% of the riders would surely recommend Andalucía Bike Race to their friends.

Registrations will be available in September.
