The 2014 winner, Markus Kaufmann, will be back again on the starting line

“I hope I can make the top 10."

After taking second place in 2013 and finally winning with Jochen Käss in 2014, Markus Kaufmann has made Andalucia Bike Race presented by Caja Rural Jaén, one of his favorite races.

"What I remember best about the 2014 edition is the rapport with my partner Jochen. We were both in good shape and well prepared. I also remember the high level of the stages, as well as the very nice weather we had," says the German days before the start of Andalucía Bike Race presented by Caja Rural Jaén.

His achievements and victories speaks for itself of the level of Markus Kaufmann over the past years. The Texpa-Simplon rider is German XCO Champion in 2012 and 2016, silver medal in 2014 and 2018 and bronze medal in 2015 and 2017, as well as sixth in the XCM World Championships in Gröden 2015.

"This will be the first race of the season, so I think it will be very difficult to find a good race pace. I've been training hard this winter and I hope I can make the top 10."

With 17 stage victories, the german will surely be one of the main characters throughout the six days of competition that our event has.
