"Ideal stages next to the world’s best"

Guy Sessler, the 2018 Israel MTB Marathon (XCM) champion and 2017 national Cross Country (XCO) runner-up, Guy Sessler (Bike Way Racing), débuts in Andalucía Bike Race presented by Caja Rural Jaén in good shape and aiming to be competitive.

What attracted you of Andalucía Bike Race presented by Caja Rural Jaén…

This is my first time at Andalucia Bike Race presented by Caja Rural Jaén. I saw that in the last years some of the top riders raced it. I also liked the distance of the stages, longer than Cross Country (XCO) but not super long, so this year I have decided to go for it.

You will race against strong contenders. Your expectations are...

I'm really excited, I'm in a good shape after a good winter of training in Israel. I don’t know what results I will get because there are strong riders that I do not know. I expect a good performance from myself and I hope the result comes with it. When the race is six days all there is left to do now is to recover and be ready for a hard week.

How are the races in Israel…

In Israel most of the races are Cross Country (XCO) which is my main goal along the season, but I found out I'm pretty good at the long ones, when you need to keep it steady and strong for a longer time.

Your 2019 season stands out for…

My main goal for this season is the Cross Country (XCO) national championship and to get the UCI points for Tokyo 2020.
