Jaén has welcomed the Andalucía Bike Race by Garmin 2025 with open arms, reaffirming its commitment to the race in this third stage, the first one on Jaén’s territory. The day began with an official ceremony attended by the president of the Jaén Provincial Council, Francisco Reyes, the mayor of Jaén, Julio Millán, and the representative of the Andalusian regional government, José Ayala. They welcomed all participants and highlighted the importance of this event for the province.
Since its first edition, Jaén has been one of the most iconic venues of the Andalucía Bike Race, offering riders some of the most spectacular and demanding routes in the competition. Fifteen years later, the province continues to invest in MTB, establishing itself as one of the top destinations for this sport thanks to its incredible network of trails, unique landscapes, and strong commitment to mountain biking.
The first encounter with the province was truly spectacular, with a 64.79-kilometer stage featuring 2,227 meters of elevation gain, taking cyclists through some of the most iconic landscapes of the area, crossing El Neveral and entering the Sierra Mágina Natural Park. From the start, the peloton set off towards Pegalajar, a charming Andalusian village with its characteristic white houses, surrounded by the sea of olive trees that defines this land. After conquering Mojón Blanco, the riders began their return towards the Olivo Arena, enjoying a finale filled with technical trails that tested their skills.
The toughness of the course made for a long and intense stage. In the men’s category, the victory went to Fabian Rabensteiner and Casey South, who took control midway through the stage. “This is a very important win for me because it’s my first victory with the new team, a stage with lots of climbs and trails. We felt great throughout the entire stage and managed to create a good gap at the finish line,” they said at the end. Rabensteiner, who won the last two editions, is aiming to defend his champion title. The podium was completed by Andreas Seewald and Jakob Hartmann of Singer KTM Racing, along with Samuele Porro and Marc Stutzmann of Klimatiza Orbea Team, who crossed the finish line together. Jakob Dorigoni and Gioele De Cosmo lost the leader’s jersey due to a crash.
In the women’s category, Mónica Calderon and Tessa Kortekaas of ISB Cannondale once again put on a show, demonstrating their strength in the mountains. Their victory solidifies their lead in the standings, although the battle remains open with Txell Figueras and Claudia Peretti of Cannondale Protour Olympia, who finished second. Melissa Maia and Pilar Fernandez completed the podium for stage three. “A very tough stage, both physically and mentally, but today we were able to really push after two days of getting to know each other,” they commented at the finish line.
Tomorrow, the riders will take on the second stage in Jaén, facing new challenges and another demanding course that promises to further shake up the general classification. The competition is entering its decisive phase, and the fight for the title is more open than ever.
