Córdoba city will be in charge of determining the overall standings of the eighth edition of Andalucía Bike Race presented by Shimano.
Isabel Ambrosio, mayor of Córdoba, doesn’t hide the pride that it means to her that the city has been the only venue that has repeated in all the editions of Andalucía Bike Race presented by Shimano. “For Córdoba it’s an honour. I believe that what most attracts the riders is the historical patrinomy, the gastronomy and the values of the natural environment offered by Córdoba’s sierra, which make it an emblematic place for those who love this sport”, assures Ambrosio.
The fourth day of racing will be the first in which the riders step Córdoba, coinciding with the Day of Andalusia. The BUFF® queen stage will be the one with the most kilometres and elevation gain, 93,3 kilometres and 2.392 metres of climbing. “I remember that last year there were thousands of citizens that since many hours before the stage’s start and until its finish, filled up all the course, creating an exceptional ambience, which I hope happens again this year”, recalls the mayor.
Córdoba will proclaim the champion
The sixth and final stage of the eighth edition of Andalucía Bike Race presented by Shimano will have 57,6 kilometres and more than 1.000 metres of elevation gain, to end up deciding the overall standings.
Isabel Ambrosio highlights that one of the major attractions of this race for all the national and international mountain bikers are the awesome singletrails and downhills that can be found around Córdoba. “This makes Andalucía Bike Race presented by Shimano a worldwide benchmark. The race would have no sense without Córdoba and I believe the city’s sports calendar either, it wouldn’t make sense without Andalucía Bike Race presented by Shimano”, analyses Córdoba’s mayor before adding “the close collaboration shown between the different authorities during the past seven editions, makes me think that Andalucía Bike Race presented by Shimano has come to stay for a long time”.
