Andújar consolidates as a mythical venue of Andalucía Bike Race presented by Shimano

Andújar is already an old known in past editions of Andalucía Bike Race presented by Shimano. This year the town of Jaén will host in the third stage. 70 kilometres and 1.794 metres of climbing that will serve to begin to set differences in the overall standings.

Francisco Huertas, Mayor of Andújar, highlighted that the city has hosted a stage in four of the five latest editions of Spain’s most renown MTB stage race. "Our territory offers all the advantages that an event of this category needs. The Sierra de Andújar natural park is well known by the riders of Andalucía Bike Race presented by Shimano, and which has become one of the mythical stages confirms that it is a unique environment”, assures Francisco Huertas.

The third stage of this eighth edition has two demanding climbs. The first is to the Virgen de la Cabeza, which top is reached at kilometre 30. The second, after the twisty descent of Los Caracolillos, is the Madroño. "I think that an event of this kind is a good example of the high level of Andalusian sport and Andalusia's commitment to host internationally renown sporting events," says the mayor of Andújar.

Andalucía Bike Race presented by Shimano, among mountain bikers, organisation, companions and fans, moves more than 1.200 people during a week along Andalusia, which according to the mayor, “it’s beyond what’s only sport and serves the city to show its full potential from the tourist and cultural point of view”.

The best mountain bikers in the world will ride the stage that serves as a transition between the provinces of Jaén and Córdoba, near great historical monuments such as the Municipal Palace of Andújar or the Roman Bridge. "We are increasingly sure that betting on promoting our territory with a sporting event as renowned as Andalucía Bike Race presented by Shimano was a very good decision" concludes Francisco Huertas.
