Linares hosts the race for the second time

Last year Linares was de the decisive venue of Andalucía Bike Race presented by Shimano, this edition it will play the role of opening the Spain’s most renown MTB stage race.

Juan Fernández, Mayor of Linares, highlights that "we have been betting to host events of great economic, social and media impact, to promote the city, and Andalucía Bike Race presented by Shimano is one of the largest, as shown by the huge deployment of athletes, organisation, the media echo or the logistics network”.

“It's a satisfaction to be the provincial venue of this great cycling event and to be able to offer landscapes known worldwide as the mining area, which fills us with pride", explains the Mayor. Linares is the second largest city in the province, behind the capital and during the days that it hosts the race, the city will also offer, in addition to the area’s renown gastronomy, its tourist attractions for all the companions and mountain biking enthusiasts who come to watch the first two stages.

The importance of the mining district

The first stage will be an individual time trial of 33 kilometers and 415 meters of climbing that will serve to decide the starting order of the second stage. The course will be very similar to the last stage of the past edition, along Linares’ mining district, with numerous easy and fun singletrails. A fast and bursting stage, ideal to loosen up the body and get racing pace.

The second stage, will also start and finish in Linares, will go to Baños de la Encina and along the edge of the Rumblar reservoir, being again the mining district’s singletrails decisive in the stage’s result.
