Francisco Reyes Martínez, President of the Deputy of Jaén, values the diffusion of the province through sport

The province of Jaén has been decisive for Andalucía Bike Race presented by Shimano. In the eighth edition of this successful mountain bike stage race, Linares and Andújar will start the six days of Spain’s best race of this kind. The communion of the province of Jaén with the race is a tradition. “For the last six years, the Deputy of Jaén collaborates with Andalucía Bike Race presented by Shimano so it continues to go along our trails, so it climbs our mountain passes and discovers the landscapes of our mountain ranges and our olive grove, which aspires to be declared World Heritage”, explains Francisco Reyes.

Besides hosting one of the best MTB stage race in Europe, the province of Jaén is receives several stages of La Vuelta almost every year. This fact, for the President of the Deputy, is one of the best ways to promote the province. “Jaén is a paradise for the bicycle, an ideal scenario for the show to outstand”, assures Reyes, before emphasizing that “this kind of events allow to promote Jaén among the lovers of this sport, as well as their companions, who come to our natural parks and cycling paths for cyclotourism”.

Finally, and despite not sponsoring elite sport, the Deputy and therefore all the inhabitants of the province, benefit from receiving the highest level races packed with the best national and international mountain bikers. “That our nature, the landscapes of olive grove or the monumental heritage of the province can achieve an international impact of these characteristics is a first class promotion”, explains the President of the Deputy.

Beyond the economic benefit of this kind of races, there is no doubt that linking Jaén to Spain’s best mountain biking competition in Spain has been a success during all these years. “We managed to make happy the cycling lover, the companions and the inhabitants of the province since we make it possible to discover this land, its secrets and its people while practicing their favourite sport”, concludes Francisco Reyes.
